Cosmic Ales recently announced the distribution of Hell Hound Brown and Cosmonaut Summer Ale to the Chicagoland area. This marks the first step by the craft nano brewery to market outside of California. The shipment departed last week and should be hitting shelves right about now.
I recently spoke with Chris "Cosmo" Briles about this. "We are incredibly excited about this move to Chicago. It's our first new market since San Diego last summer but it is also our first market that is out of state. This is a big deal for us!"
It seems every few months I'm able to meet up with Cosmo to see what he and his crew are working on and what to expect from the small brewery trying to sink its heels in the LA beer community. Sharing upcoming plans, Cosmo had this to say, "We are launching our very own Kickstarter campaign in February in order to help raise some funding to open a nano brewery and tasting room on LA's westside. This will give us a place for our fans to gather and have a great time trying new beers from [Cosmic Ales] and joining in on the brewing too."
The team behind Cosmic Ales is an ambitious bunch. With the Chicago distribution and Kickstarter campaign, the brewery is on a roll. To continue that momentum, I was also told about the brewmaster's latest news. "Our commercial production will continue adding a third ale to our portfolio. Bagpipe Ale our Scottish Wee Heavy which has always been a huge favorite at festivals. Look for it in stores and on tap very soon."
So there you have it. Cosmic Ales lands in Chicago, launches a Kickstarter campaign, and has a new production brew in the works. There is a lot going on at Cosmic Ales, when you get your hands on one, share your thoughts in the review section.
