At the center of Galway Downs, in beautiful Temecula, was the inaugural I-15 Brew Festival, and it went off with a bang. Among the fire-breathers, sword swallowers and other sideshow performers, were dozens of breweries, and local grub. There were also home brewers from the Brewluminati and the Beer & Pussycats home brew clubs.
Local flavors of Black Market Brewing Co., Ironfire Brewing, and Escape Craft Brewery were in attendance, as well as Knee Deep Brewing, Main Street Brewery, Lagunitas and the new Axes and Growlers. Of the many food trucks that were their gourmet vittles, we decided on Big Easy Sandwiches--great stuff. The Chipotle Pulled Pork Sandwich and Creole Roast Beef Sandwich really hit the spot. “Crafting New Orleans food to California taste” is their motto, and they nailed it.
The inaugural I-15 Beer Fest event was a great first attempt at an event of this size, and we look forward to more of these. After all, it’s nice to break up the monotony of sampling great local beer with someone squeezing themselves through a tennis racket or spewing fireballs! You can find more events by the producers of I-15 Beer Fest under their new name Craft Brew Circus, a very fitting name indeed. Look for their events in San Diego, Santa Barbara, Orange County, and Long Beach, Cheers!
